Braden's First Crush
This is Lindsay, Braden's first crush.
Back in December we took Braden to have his hair cut by Tammy, the woman who cuts his dad's hair. Lindsay works in the station next to Tammy. Braden was completely infatuated with Lindsay from the moment he saw her. He was making the cutest googly eyes at her the whole time.
Fast forward a couple months. Braden hadn't seen Lindsay since Christmas time and there really hadn't been much mention of her since right after that first time he saw her. Yet here was Braden pretending to talk on the phone. When he "hung up" he looked me and said in the puffed up macho way males do "I was talking to my girlfriend...Lyndsay."
So when we told Braden last week daddy was going to call Tammy and make hair cut appointments, he said "I want my girlfriend Lindsay to cut my hair." Seriously, what three year old boy requests a specific hair stylist on his own?
As the day approached, he kept saying he was going to tell Lindsay she was his girlfriend. Too bad he got shy and chickened out. I would have loved to hear her response. But he did tell me later that it was nice to have her touch his hair.
Yesterday when I showed him the pictures of his hair cut, he looked at me and asked "Can Lindsay come live at our house?"
I wonder how long before he realizes she a little too old for him. And I wonder if this is the first sign that he's going to like older women.
Boys are so fun.

Due To Technical Difficulties
The deadline for Hen House Diaries First Ever Give Away has been extened. It seems there has been some issue with people being able to post comments on the blog. I'm not sure why this is happening. I have run into this from time to time with other blogs I've tried to comment on. All I can tell you is to keep trying.
In the mean time, the deadline has be extended to Monday, July 19 at noon, eastern time. Mostly because I have a very busy weekend a head of me and I'm not sure I'd have time to choose a winner before then. So CLICK HERE and leave me a comment letting me know you want to win.

Just A Reminder
Don't forget about the give away that ends tomorrow. You can read all about it by clicking here.
10 years ago today I got married. As I look out the front window I see that it's raining. So different from the sunshine and blue skies I had on my wedding day. As I look out the back window I see chickens and goats where we once celebrated with friends and family. There is now a pole barn where our guests parked their cars.
The spot where Rob and I stood and vowed to love and cherish each other, however, is still untouched. Perhaps I'll plant a small flower bed there to mark that spot as special someday. And if you are wondering, we got married outside in our own back yard. It was the perfect wedding. Small and intimate with just our family at the ceremony.
When you say it 10 years sounds like such a long time. Yet when I think back on the time together it all seems to have flown by so fast. 10 years ago we had no idea what our lives held. All we knew was that we were going to face it together.
Three children and a farm later we still don't know what the future holds. All we know is that will will face it together.

Hen House Diaries First Ever Give Away
Yes, you read that right. Today I am hosting my first ever give away on this blog. I'm so excited!
(See note at the bottom of this post, please!)
So I suppose you would like to know what you might win, right? Well I'll tell you. It's homemade soap. I made my first ever batch of hot process soap a couple weeks ago and was so happy with the results that I decided to give a bar away.
This batch is lightly pear scented and turned out a really nice creamy color. It also lathers up very nicely.
All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment by Friday at 12:00 pm Eastern Time (that's noon) letting me know you would like to win it. I will choose the winner by using a random number generator to keep it fair.
I hope this makes up for not having time to blog for so long.
Edited to add what I should have said to start with: Please only one comment per person to keep things fair. Multiple comments will be deleted. However I do read all of them and will make note of anything that I may need to remember for future reference.
*NOTE* Due to people telling me they are having trouble leaving comments I have extended the deadline to Monday, July 19, Noon eastern time. So tell your friends. Good luck everyone!!
